Big Huge Games is seeking Engineering Interns with a passion for games to join our fun and awesome team located in Timonium, Maryland, for Summer 2019! You will be part of a highly skilled and innovative group that is working on world-class mobile games and related technologies. We’re looking for candidates who combine strong programming skills with an interest in games, and the ability to work well with others.

You will be working with client, server and tool programmers, as well as collaborating with other disciplines including Art, Design, Production, and QA. Your work will involve helping implement new game features, improving and creating tools, as well as fixing bugs and helping support our live mobile games. We want engineers that live and breathe code, yet can still operate and communicate effectively in a highly interactive environment.

Internship opportunities through Big Huge Games are paid, full-time (40hr/week), and on-site in our office located just north of Baltimore City.

No part-time, telecommuting, or remote work options are available

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop high-quality game features for mobile platforms, by gathering requirements, designing solutions, implementing robust code, testing and debugging.
  • Create efficient, scalable, optimized code while working with our codebase as well as 3rd party libraries and tools.
  • Understand, conform and optimize for the memory and performance limitations of target hardware.
  • Participate in group collaboration and utilize engineering best practices, such as code reviews.
  • Work with all departments to ensure the best systems and tools to make our teams efficient and our games great.

Qualifications:

  • Source control system knowledge, including Git and/or Perforce.
  • Knowledge of C#, Java or C++.
  • Excellent team and interpersonal skills.
  • Unity3D Engine expertise.
  • Familiarity with mobile development (iOS/Android).
  • Ability to quickly understand existing code and enhance/extend an existing architecture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals in object-oriented design, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Software engineering skills, including the ability to write maintainable and robust code.
  • Ability to architect systems from scratch.
  • A passion for hands-on game development with a focus on attention to detail.
